Corbino. That means images, movement, people, a flavor, a brand, and a way of life. Born Cornelis Maarten Corbijn van Willenswaard on October 14th 1959 as the third son of a vicar and a nurse, this Dutchie has been sharpening his vision since the early eighties. Starting as a mere lensman, he since then has grown into a multi-diciplined artist, responsible for some of the most iconic portraits and music videos made in the Lowlands. His teaming up with heavy-talented Georgios Rietveld has resulted in a flow of beautiful short-films, for a wide array of clients. The spiritual origin never far out of sight, he expresses his unique taste in words too, resulting in an impressive amount of texts in an ever moving display of symbiosis. His “Corbino Bible” (2021) is considered one of the finest dutch photobooks ever published.
Corbino’s work has been on display in galleries and musea, and can be found in various collections, including the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and the Kunstmuseum Den Haag.
